Day 5 Date 13/10/2017
- Things I learned and did today: I practiced the sound “dress”, reading dialogues at pages 24-25, learned tongue twisters and tried to pronounce them quickly and I also did ear training.
- · For today, my English speech has the following features of Russian accent: Slow tempo and wrong intonation (mid-level pitch), problems with nuclear tones. Also, I have some mistakes with vowel tenseness (the word “good”).
- I would give 5 points out of 10 for my pronunciation today because I liked my pronunciation of consonants, the use of clear “l” and the linking “r”. Nevertheless, I have some problems with intonation.
- For today, English speech of my partner has the following features of Russian accent: Medium pitch level, wrong intonation (it’s difficult to show “rise-fall” and “fall-rise”), lack of fluency and linking “r”.
- I would give points 3 out of 10 for my partner’s pronunciation today because of the mistakes in the intonation and fluency.
- Impressions for today’s lesson: When I listened other students’ dialogues, I analyzed their mistakes. I think, it’s useful experience for a future teacher.
- To improve my results, I should do the following task at home: I’ll listen to the next dialogue (page 107) and did exercises. Moreover, I’ll continue to practice my intonation on that website: http://www.phon.ucl.ac.uk/home/estuary/
